Jazz Jam in Sydney
Since 2005, Bar Me ‘El Rocco’ in Kings Cross has been hosting jazz & latin nights every second Monday evening. But if you are expecting your usual pub band, you will be disappointed. These fortnightly events are jam sessions: bring your own charts (three copies) and/or your own instruments.
Spectators can enjoy their dinner over a range of spectacular performances, which range from talented amateurs, though to total professionals. Recent visitors have included Jeanne Bastos, Dahlia Dior, Sally Street, Wally Wrightman and Steve Clisby.
Expect to hear some creative jazz, Cuban song, Brazilian bossanovas and sambas, a bit of tango, Latin boleros, salsa, French chansons, a little poetry and even some acapela! And if you are feeling super-inspired, then put your super musical talents to the test, and join in! – after all, you are a Superstudent.
These evenings are totally free and not-for-profit, and there is no cover charge – so please, forward this to all musicians, friends and other Superstudents who may be interested.
